Claude certifications

Anthropic has four certification exams for Claude. This is my map of them, written as I prepare for the first one. Each exam has its own page with the format, the domains and their weights.

The four exams

Practice examsPractice questions for all four examsAnswers hidden until you choose, readers' picks and a score by domain. Or sit exam mode against a timer. The questions are Matthew Purcell's practice sets, credited on every page.

What all four share

  • 120 minutes, closed book. No notes, no docs, no second screen.
  • Proctored online, through Pearson.
  • A badge that lasts 12 months. A pass earns a Credly badge, and it expires after a year.
  • An exam guide with an intended audience. Each guide says who the exam is written for. If that is you, preparation is mostly making exact what you already look up.
  • Content under NDA. Nobody may publish the real questions, and this site never will.

Remember: I have not sat any of these exams. The facts on these pages come from the exam guides and from the sources listed on each page. What I add myself is how I study.

Who can sit them

You cannot sign up as an individual today. Registration goes through Anthropic’s Partner Academy and needs an organisation account from an Anthropic partner. Two sources reported this in July 2026.

Check Anthropic’s own page before you plan around it. This is the kind of rule that changes.

Which one first

For someone who writes code, the suggested order starts with the hardest exam.

The order for a technical person: the hardest exam first
  • If you build with Claude: CCAR-F, then CCDV-F, then CCAR-P. CCAR-F asks for the most exact recall, and its content comes back in the other two.
  • If you already design generative AI systems: one published review says you can go straight to CCAR-P, because it tests judgement and not API detail.
  • If you do not write code: CCAO-F only. The other three assume you build.

That order is one person’s experience after passing all four. It is listed under Sources.

Where I am

I am studying for CCAR-F, and I hold none of the four today. My notes go up as I finish each study session.

How I plan to sit the exam is in the first post of the series.
